Who says we have not been consistent this season?? If you ask me, last 5 matches we have been more consistent then any other team in giving away the matches to the opposition just when we should have consolidated good starts which we had made in all these matches. After dominating the early exchanges, we scored thanks to Van Persie's header resulted from a corner which was deflected by Eboue before been tucked in nonchalantly by Persie. Prior to that Vela missed a golden opportunity when he failed to put Walcott cross just in front of the goal. A season which promised so much from the Mexican has now ended without him delivering at all.
Yes Blackburn were direct, mind you they use ways which do not look attractive but are quite effective against us. Dunn's first goal was as scrappy as it can get and was a result of sustained pressure just before the half time from Blackburn. Just goes to show when under pressure we are more vulnerable at the back then any other team in the league. Its in such situations where experienced midfield and defense can help us out by keeping the ball, wasting the time, passing it around so that we don't concede just before few moments of the half time.
Second half was more open and both teams had enough chances to go in front. Their 2nd goal was a perfect example of how more physical teams have exposed our back in set pieces. Yes we could have had more defenders covering Samba who pushed Cambell onto Fabiabski who could hardly do anything to keep Sambas header out. In post match, Arsene backed his keeper and said he was not responsible for the 2nd goal but if you were to ask me, Fabianski has been too naive in such situations and if a goalkeeper cant punch out such corners which are right in front of him then their is hardly anything a defender can do to help their keepers.
In the back of this performance, if Arsene still believes that Fabianski is the man for Arsenal then I am not sure whether he at all cares about fans opinion. We definitely need to buy a keeper who can instill some confidence at the back as often great defensive teams starts with a great goalkeeper.
